Racing enthusiasts will flock to the Summit Motorsports Park this weekend for a once in a lifetime event.
The world renowned Lingenfelter Performance Engineering will be hosting their first ever Lingenfelter Performance Nationals from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 7:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22 and 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Sunday September 23. The event will take place at Summit Motorsports Park at 1300 State Route 18 in Norwalk
“We are offering a festival type event for racing enthusiasts,” said Mike Copeland, operations manager of the Lingenfelter Performance Nationals. “It will also be our customer appreciation day, so we will have a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy.”
Some of those activities will include a speed stop challenge, drag racing, autocross, car show, dyno challenge and tech seminars.
While Lingenfelter Performance Engineering specializes in GM machinery, they have invited other car manufactures like Ford and Chrysler to the event.
“There are no other events where all brands of cars can compete against each other,” Copeland said. “Other events just have one brand of cars competing against each other, with our event all brands can compete.”
The nationals will have events going on the entire time and will offer something for the whole family, whether you are a car lover or not.
“Anyone can enjoy this event,” Copeland said. “We will have car care clinics, as well as clinics about how to polish or repaint your classic car. Even if you are not that into cars you will find something that interests you.”
With a playground on site and a coloring contest planned for the kids, there will be something to entertain even the smallest race enthusiasts.
With people expected to come to the event from places as far away as California and Texas, organizers hope to have thousands of people attend.
Tickets to the Lingenfelter Performance Nationals spectator tickets are $10 per day or $25 for a three-day package. Participant tickets range from $50 to $150, depending on the event.
