1. Sandusky Rollergirls Halloween Bout
Why you should go: Well for one, you can win free tickets to go. The Sandusky Rollergirls Halloween bout is an awesome event with costumes, raffles and more. The event is an invitational with players from the Sandusky Rollergirls, Burning River Roller Girls, Glass City Rollergirls, and Little Steel Rollergirls teams all participating. Players from every team will be mixed together and split into two teams, Freddy’s Nightmares vs. Michael’s Maniacs. Plus, Funcoast will be giving away tickets Monday Oct. 1-Friday Oct. 5. All you have to do to be entered to win is text DERBY to 41948.

2. Sandusky Art Walk
Why you should go: The Sandusky Art Walk is always a good time, and this one will be no exception. The theme for October is the Uptown Photo Op Photo contest. So go check out the art of locals, and try to guess which photos will win the competition.

3. Docktoberfest
Why you should go: The Great Lakes beer truck will be at the event along with three live local bands, multiple food carts and more. Docktoberfest is also a charity event benefiting Stein Hospice. Plus, on top of all of that, it’s at Dockside café, so you know there will be good food.

4. 3rd Annual Burger Bonanza
Why you should go:
If you’ve ever fought with your friends over who has the best burger in town, this event is for you. Restaurants, organizations and even individuals will be gathering at Great Wolf Lodge to compete for the title of best burger. Attendees will be able to taste all of the contenders and vote for their favorite. Entry is free, it costs $5 to try three sliders, there will be side dishes and a cash bar available courtesy of Great Wolf Lodge, and all of the proceeds will benefit the youth of Erie County, served by Big Brothers Big Sisters.

5. Boo at the Bay & Pirate Day
Why you should go:
Gear up for Halloween with the family. Placed at the beginning of the month, this event is the perfect thing to tide over those kids who get super excited about Halloween as soon as the calendar is turned to October. (Yes, I was one of those kids.) Enjoy costumes, pumpkins, treats and all manner of Halloween and Pirate themed activities at the Maritime Museum and the Sandusky Bay Pavilion.
