Top five things to do this weekend

Halloween is getting closer and closer, so naturally we have some Halloween type events we think you should attend this weekend, but do not worry, we also made sure to include some non-Halloween events in our five picks.
Oct 17, 2012

1.   ZomBay Walk & Zombie Prom
Why you should go: Dress up like a zombie and then be a part of a zombie hoard as you and your zombie cohort parade through downtown Sandusky. This horrifically awesome sounding event is a chance for you to not only dress like a zombie, but act like one too, plus there’s a prom at The Underground at the end. If all that wasn’t cool enough, downtown businesses such as Mona Pizza, Cabana Jacks & Hot Dog Tony’s will also be participating with special discounts just for the event.
WHEN: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20
WHERE: Merry-Go-Round Museum, 301 Jackson St., Sandusky & The Underground, 224 E. Water St., Sandusky
COST: $15

2. Vermilion’s Zombie Crawl
Why you should go: Party it up zombie style in Vermilion. Start and end at Quaker Steak & Lube with the pre party and the Zombie Prom. Stop at five different participating bars in downtown including Quaker Steak & Lube, Rudy's, Tap House, Woodstock, and Knotty Pine. There will be costume contests at each bar including awards for the sexiest, best dressed, scariest, grooviest and best couple zombies.
WHEN: 7 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19
WHERE: Downtown Vermilion
COST: Free

3.   Halloween Sweet Scavenger Hunt

WHERE: Sandusky Mall, 4314 Milan Rd., Sandusky
COST: Free

4.   Chateau Tebeau Winery Open House
Why you should go: Take a sale filled shopping trip and enjoy some great wine at this fun event. Along with Chateau Tebeau winery Stone Patch, Pond Builders and Cindy’s Sewing and Embroidery will be participating in the open house by having specials that day for shoppers. Participants who visit all four locations will also be entered into a drawing at the winery for door prizes.

5.   “Honky Tonk Angels”
Why you should go: Take a little break from all the Halloween madness and enjoy a musical. Have a theatre date at the State and check out the country musical “Honky Tonk Angels.” If you’re trying to decide between this event and one of the more, well, alcohol centric events on this list, don’t worry, the Sandusky State Theatre has a bar.
