Celebrate the budding of the grape vines at SpringFest

D&D Smith Winery is celebrating the budding of the grape vines this weekend with live music, a pig roast, craft vendors, some new wines to try and more.

“Our SpringFest is a perfect opportunity to celebrate [the budding of the grape vines],” said Danielle Smith, co-owner of the winery.

“We held a fall event and there was a really big turn out, we hope for the same for this spring,” said Smith.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, May 11, begins at noon and lasts until about midnight with activities happening throughout the day and evening.

A delicious hog roast, provided by Bone Boy’s BBQ, will be yours for the devouring, as well as some homemade Italian gelato ice cream made by Janet’s Gelato. “Janet makes the gelato herself and will bring it with her,” explained Smith. As far as the flavors, “She’s going to surprise us.”

Live entertainment will be provided by Norwalk’s own band, Repco’s at 4 p.m. and Tony T will entertain the fireside in the courtyard in the evening from 8-11 p.m.

The winery will also be hosting their 19 varieties of grape and fruit wines, with two new wines Frontenac Gris, a dry white estate wine and Simply Sweet, an American sweet red wine, to try.

Over 30 vendors will be present at the Springfest. “There will be a blend of different type of vendors,” Smith explained. Everything from antiquing to different crafting vendors will be available to check out from 12-7 p.m.

Admission is free, however the hog roast is extra. “The hog roast costs around $11 per person, which includes four sides,” said Smith.
