The Walleye Festival is this weekend

Come to the walleye capital of the world and celebrate with the locals at an annual event.

“This is our 33rd anniversary and we expect around 50,000 to 60,000 people to come celebrate with us,” said Laura Schlachter, program manager for Main Street Port Clinton. “We will have a variety of activities going on each night, so it should be a great celebration.”

COST: $25 for general admission to beer fest, $35 for VIP beer fest tickets, $35 in advance for weekend-long ride tickets, live entertainment is free

The festival will kick off with carnival rides and a beer festival on Thursday night.

“There will be over 100 different craft beers from over 30 different breweries,” Schlachter said. “For $25 you can sample 20 different beers or for $35 you can get a VIP pass and sample beers early.”

With a VIP pass you also get a variety of different items including a t-shirt.

On Friday all 130 vendors will be open for business and attendees will enjoy the lighted boat parade.

Saturday there will be live entertainment, the grand parade and all the carnival rides will be operating.

“We will also have a variety food available to sample,” Schlachter said. “We will have all the carnival foods plus some of our local walleye favorites.”

Some of these walleye favorites include walleye pizza, walleye on stick and walleye sandwiches.

On Sunday there will be the Kid’s Fishing Derby where a variety of prizes will be given away. Some of the prizes that will be giving away include i-pods and bikes.

“Come kick off the beginning of summer with some live entertainment and friends,” Schlachter said. “A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to Main Street Port Clinton, so come support a worthy cause and have a blast.”
