Get your artist on at Lake Erie

Area organizations are trying to encourage art among local children with a new event that brings out the Vincent van Gogh in every child.

Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial will be hosting the event Arts on Lake Erie from 10 am to 5 pm every day until Friday, June 28 at the memorial, 93 Delaware Avenue at Put-in-Bay.

For the event Perry’s is partnering with the Put-in-Bay Arts Council and giving children and the opportunity to learn a variety of different arts.

Each day a visiting artist will teach the children a different art and give the children a masterpiece to take home.

Teaching children everything from how to paint watercolors to making macramé, the free event is open to children of all ages. All the supplies are provided by Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial and the Put-in-Bay Arts Council, so children simply have to show up and be ready to learn.

Children can come each day or one if they prefer and registration is on a first come first serve basis.
