There’s plenty being offered this winter by Erie MetroParks to get out of that cabin fever funk and get outside.

Aspiring artists will learn to paint watercolors following step-by-step directions and demonstrations by instructor Clela Stelnicki. Cost is $60 for a 4-week session or $15 per class. The Erie MetroParks Youth Adventure Club is a new co-ed youth program for young adults ages 10 to 15. Participants do not need any outdoor skills- just a willingness to try something new! Erie MetroParks staff will guide them through each activity. Registration and emergency medical forms required.

Two Park Pals programs will include a Backbone Bonanza on Saturday, January 11 at 10 a.m. and Monday, January 13 at 1:30 p.m. The programs are at Osborn MetroPark’s Frost Center, Erie Room. The area rivers, bays and parts of Lake Erie are frozen, but that is no reason to stay out of a kayak this winter. A classroom kayaking class will be Friday, January 17 at 7pm, Osborn MetroPark’s Frost Center, Erie Room.

Have you always wanted to try kayaking but been afraid to try it on the water? Here’s your chance to try it in a dry classroom! The class will be going over the different types of kayaks and equipment you’ll need to enjoy a safe day on the water. You’ll be taught all that can be taught without water- strokes, turns, and rescues will be part of the class. Registration required and there is a 20 person limit.

A bicycle maintenance workshop will be Friday, January 24 at 7 p.m., in Osborn MetroPark’s Frost Center, Erie Room. Now’s the time to get that old bicycle out of the back of the shed or garage and get it cleaned up and fix all those little things or big things you’ve been promising you’d do. A Metroparks staff member will show you how to change a tire or patch that leak and what to use to lube your bike and where to lube it. They will go over what tools and other gear you’ll need to do it right. Registration required.

Get outside for some crisp, cool air with a winter nature walk for all ages. The walk will be Saturday, January 25 at 10 a.m., The walk will start at East Sandusky Bay MetroPark’s Enchanted Cottage, 4011 Cleveland Rd West, Huron.
