With Christmas fast approaching, a very common present to receive (and give) is the beloved gift card. Don't you wish there was a place where you could store all those little plastic nightmares so they don't take up so much space in your wallet or purse? Well, for all you coffee lovers out there, Starbucks has you covered!
This year, you won't have to worry about what to do with all those plastic gift cards from Starbucks because this free app will allow you to manage all your cards, reload them when necessary and track your rewards status in one simple place.
The Starbucks app allows you to use your phone just like a gift card. Just go into the cards section, choose the card you want to pay with – you'll have to have registered the card to your account beforehand – and have the barista scan the code on your phone.
A small tip when using this app, it's common that employees won't accept mobile payment when in the drive-thru due to the responsibility of taking your smartphone. So when using this app, make sure you go inside so that you can be responsible for your device.
You can also use this app to load funds to a card as well as transfer funds from one gift card to another. This is especially helpful if you have multiple gift cards and only want to carry around one. This is also a great solution to the drive-thru issue, just put all of your funds on one card and use that card instead of your phone when you use the drive-thru. This does mean that you have to hold on to that card, but if you do lose the card none of the money is really lost because it's linked to you're account.
Starbucks also wants you to be aware of every location nearest you, so thankfully they have that covered with the store locator function that will help you get to your next caffeine fix.
