The sleigh rides don’t depend on snow to function, just your imagination, as you ride through the 14th U.S. President’s 25-acre estate on a sleigh drawn by South Creek Clydesdale horses. “The ride is very nostalgic, makes you think of old time Christmases,” said Nancy Kleinhenz, the communications and marketing manager for the Hayes Presidential Center.

Want to go?
WHAT:
Sleigh Rides at Spiegel Grove
WHEN: 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, December 26-30
WHERE: Hayes Presidential Center, Spiegel Grove, at the corner of Buckland and Hayes Avenues, Fremont
COST: $3
INFO: Call 419-332-2081 or visit www.rbhayes.org

The cost is only $3 per rider, and it won’t disappoint. “It’s a pleasant tour of the Spiegel Grove grounds and lets you view the Hayes home in a 360 degree view. Many people don’t have a chance to look at the house from the south end, and it is a beautiful side of the mansion where President Hayes lived,” Kleinhenz said.

During the sleigh rides, both the Hayes Museum and Hayes Home are dressed with their holiday glow and gander and are open for tours. Each facility costs a separate admission fee, but both are totally worth it. Especially since another holiday favorite, The Hayes Train Special is also taking place until January 6.

So bundle up and bring your loved ones, for it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together.
