Celebrate the planet by helping a local community spruce up their grounds for the summer.

Lakeside Chautauqua is hosting their annual Lakeside Spring Cleanup Day at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 26 on their grounds, 236 Walnut Avenue in Lakeside.

“We usually have over 75 volunteers and do some spring cleaning here at Lakeside,” said Melissa Kunz, content manager for Lakeside Chautauqua. “We clean up the big gathering places in our community and get things out of storage for the summer.”

Whether you are picking up trash in Hoover Auditorium or helping refill old supplies in the art rooms, you will be helping to make the seasonal community ready for the summer.

With a variety of projects available to participate in, volunteers can pick what they want to work on. However, the best projects fill up quickly, so come early.

Some of the other tasks that might need to be done include cleaning up the campground area, vacuuming in one of the buildings, gardening and cleaning windows at the Rhein Center.

“In general we are cleaning up the inside of the buildings, bringing in things we need and getting rid of trash,” Kunz said. “All this work really helps make Lakeside beautiful for the summer time and shows the passion all of our volunteers have for this community.”

Most of the volunteers are area residents who do not live at Lakeside and just occasionally visit in the summer.

All volunteers will be provided with lunch as a thank you for their efforts.

To participate in the Lakeside Spring Cleanup Day attendees must RSVP by Monday, April 21. To RSVP, call 419-798-4461 or visit www.lakesideohio.com.
