Back by popular demand, the chocolate tasting contest at the Ritter Public Library will also be happening during the ice fair.

“While people are out enjoying our town’s fantastic ice sculptures, they can come warm up at the library and enjoy some tasty chocolate” said Patty Kishman, communication coordinator for the library.

The tasting begins at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. is when the winners are announced and the prize ribbons are claimed. “Exactly at 2 p.m. we count all the ballots and name this year’s chocolate champion,” said Kishman.

New to this year’s tasting, a children’s category and a blue ribbon category are added into the mix. “This year we will have a new blue ribbon category, where if you enjoyed one of the last few years’ winners, you might see it again here” explained Kishman.

Stop by the library, located at 5680 LIberty Avenue, to taste the chocolates and vote for your favorite. The cost is only $0.50 per taste.

After the Ice-A-Fair it’s time to melt down and party. The Vermilion Boat Club is hosting a “Melt Down Party” the same day from 7-10 p.m.

Located at 5416 Liberty Avenue, the party is open to the public and tickets are $25 per person. Any money raised through ticket sales with benefit Main Street Vermilion’s upcoming programs.

Soup, sliders, wine and cheese will be served during the party. “Cold hard cash” tickets and raffles tickets are being sold at $5 each or $20 for five tickets. $1000 will be given away during the party.
