Come celebrate the beginning of the island season by attending some annual kickoff events.
The Village Pump will be hosting their annual Early Bird Party from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. April 12 at their location, 103 W. Lakeshore Drive, Kelleys Island. Also, Mr. Ed’s Bar and Grille will be hosting their 8th annual Island PJ Party from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. April 19.
“This is a big party we have every year to start off the season,” said Bobby Skeans, employee of The Village Pump. “We are really known for our Brandy Alexander’s, so people love coming over to get some after going a whole winter without.”
Opening their doors for the season on March 7 and closing their doors at the end of December every year, The Village Pump is always the first place to open for the season and the last to close.
This annual celebration will feature live music by Steve Barnell, as well as contests and giveaways.
“We will be playing trivia and giving away free snacks,” said Gary Finger, owner of The Village Pump. “If the weather is good hundreds will come out to celebrate the beginning of the season with us.”
Other establishments will also be celebrating the kick off the island season including Mr. Ed’s Bar and Grille.
Located on Put-in-Bay, this local watering hole will be hosting their annual pajama party. Guests are encouraged to wear their funny, sexy or original PJs. Prizes will be given away for the best outfits.
“After this terrible winter people just want to escape to the islands for a day and daydream of summer,” Finger said. “This is the perfect opportunity to see old friends, make new friends and get rid of the winter blues.”
Several calls to Mr. Ed’s Bar and Grille were not returned by press time.
