Six places to celebrate the end of the world

It’s coming… or so they say. The end of the world is only a few days away, and everyone's ready to party like it's, well, December 21, 2012.

The way we see it is you have four options here:

1.  Cry, worry and spend the rest of your last hours running frantic, trying to buy water, oxygen, flashlights and non-perishable foods.

2.  Don’t believe the world will end. I’m not saying we truly believe the world will end either, but why waste what could be your last few hours doing stuff to prepare for tomorrow, if in fact, tomorrow never comes.

3.  Use it as an excuse to do the things you always said you would. Skydive, go bungee jumping, climb Mount Everest, watch a sunrise, get married, etc.

4.  Spend your last night with close friends and family and party it up like there’s no To-Mayan.

Personally, we're going with option number 4. So we called around the area and asked how local venues were celebrating the end of all things and found six awesome events that you should definitely check out:

• End of the World party at Slater’s
Port Clinton’s very own Slater’s Madison Street Pub is hosting a party with live entertainment by Johnny Reed and The House Rockers. There will be no cover charge with food and drink specials going on all day. Since the exact time that the world will end cannot be determined, the party will be rocking until the world ends or 1:30 a.m., whichever comes first.

• A New Beginning: Mayan Toga Party
Kalahari Resort in Sandusky is throwing a Mayan Toga Party in their Kilimanjaro Ballroom, beginning at 7 p.m. Come dressed in your toga best and celebrate with food, drinks and live entertainment. Benefits from the event will be donated to Firelands Regional Medical Center Pediatric services and other children’s non-profit organizations.

• End of the World party at The Underground
The Underground is featuring Russett Burbank’s Last Buffet with special guest performers Deadwood Ed, Mr. Nice Guy, Fireside Drowning and more. Doors open at 8 p.m. and cost is only $5 at the door. 18 and up only at this party, though.

• End of the World party at Strikers
Strikers in Plaza Lanes in Fremont is celebrating the end of it all with live entertainment guests, Mafia Swim Club Band. The party begins at 8 p.m. with T-Shirt and other giveaways, specials on food and drinks and so much more.

• End of the World party and potluck at The Hero Zone
The Hero Zone in Sandusky is hosting a party and potluck at 8 p.m. Attendees are invited to watch zombie-themed movies, play apocalyptic games such as Cards Against Humanity, and try to survive the last night as best as we mere humans can. Stop by for the fun, games, food and a sure bet great time with friends.

• End of the World party at Quaker Steak and Lube
With drink and food specials happening all night long, live entertainment, and a raffle you’ll definitely want to check out this event. As this party coincides with the tenth day of the Lube’s 12 Gifts of Christmas charity event, the Child Care Resource Center will be selling $10 raffles tickets for a chance to win $1000 your last night on Earth. Show up early dressed as a Mayan and you’ll get a free ticket for the raffle. The winning ticket will be drawn at 8 p.m. Live entertainment by John Burrow will be at 7 p.m.
