“The money raised from the dinner will help send Team USA to the Bocuse d’Or,” said Anna Christoff, marketing and public relations specialist for the institute. “The Bocuse d’Or is the most prestigious culinary competition in the world and is known as the culinary Olympics.”

Chef Phillip Tessier of The French Laundry has been selected to represent Team USA at the competition, which takes place every two years in Lyon, France.

“The next competition is in 2015, but fundraising has already started,” Christoff said. “This dinner is one of five dinners taking place throughout the USA to raise money for this competition.”

Money from the dinner will go to the Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation, which will help support Team USA.

At the competition Chef Tessier will be competing with chefs from 24 countries in a five and half hour cooking challenge.

“It is a huge deal that we were selected as a location to host one of the fundraiser dinners,” Christoff said. “It is really an honor to host this dinner.”

Chef Tessier, as well as several other chefs, will prepare the eight-course meal. The contributing chefs are from all over the USA, including Chicago, Cleveland, San Francisco and New York City.

This invitation only dinner cost $5,000 per table of 10. Some of the companies that purchased tables at the prestigious dinner include Steelite International, Vitamix and Parkhurst Dining.

“We are honored to be able to put on this fundraiser dinner and truly believe in culinary education and contributing to chef’s success,’ Christoff said. “This is just a wonderful way to give back to the industry we are a part of and we are thrilled to be given this opportunity.”
