“For $15 attendees can bowl for two hours and get their rental shoes for free,” said Paula Kerper, organizer of the event. “All the proceeds will go towards the American Cancer Society and our hope is to raise $2,000.”
Want to go?
WHAT: Bowling for a Cure
WHEN: 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 19
WHERE: Star Lanes, 2097 Cleveland Road in Sandusky
COST: $15/two hours of bowling (includes shoe rental)
With only five people allowed per lane, the lanes will be filling up fast.
However, the Flower Children Relay for Life Team will also have other fundraisers going on during the bowling event in an effort to raise as much money as possible.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle, bowling ball raffle, strike jackpot, giveaways and a bake sale. The majority of the raffle items have been donated and include gift baskets, gift cards and other items.
“This is the first year we have done this type of event, but we are confident it will be a success,” Kerper said. “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by this terrible disease, so we hope everyone will come out to support the fight against it.”
The American Cancer Society uses the donated funds to find a cure for cancer.
“By coming out and having a fun time with your family you can also potentially help find the cure to cancer,” Kerper said. “If we can help people live through this disease or find a cure then isn’t $15 worth it?”
The Flower Children Relay for Life Team will also be hosting other fundraisers in the coming weeks in an effort to raise $10,000 overall for their team. The team hopes to raise the money by June 14 because they will be participating in the Sandusky Relay for Life at Sandusky High School.
