The annual masquerade party attracts approximately 200 guests each year. Guests dress in a variety of costumes including fairy tale characters, cowboys and Wizard of Oz characters.

“Guests really seem to enjoy dressing up and really get into the spirit of the party,” said John D’Amico, co-owner and head chef of the restaurant. “Each year we sell out because this event is so popular.”

WHAT: A Halloween Masquerade Party
WHEN: 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm on Friday, October 25
WHERE: Chez Francois Restaurant, 555 Main Street in Vermillion
COST: $90 to $110/ per person (plus tax and gratuity)

The large party started out as a small event with a group of people who came in every year around Halloween and dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes. From there it slowly grew each year until the restaurant decided to have a special event for this spooky party.

“We will be serving hors d'oeuvres, have a cocktail hour and live music and dancing,” D’Amico said. “Guests will also enjoy a four course meal.”

The meal will be a fine dining experience that will feature dishes like cream of Erie County pumpkin soup with toasted pumpkin seeds, Maine lobster quiche with truffle hollandaise, tenderloin of beef and sweet dumpling squash and pumpkin cheesecake.

Wines will be paired with each course to enhance the flavor of the dishes.

The band Less Than 88 and DJ Mike Moore will perform live entertainment.

“This is a really fun event because you can be whoever you want to be for one night,” D’Amico said. “So come, unwind and celebrate Halloween with us by enjoying some wonderful food and drinks with friends.”
