The famous weekend-long Memorial Day weekend Bash at the Bay is back

Celebrate our fallen heroes and the start of summer this weekend with an island-wide bash on Put-in-Bay.

“Different bars and businesses have events to celebrate the weekend,” said Deval Lucas, manager of Mr. Ed’s Bar and Grille. “We will have our pool and grado area open and will be having live entertainment.”

Mr. Ed’s will also be opening up their new martini bar, which is located on the roof of the restaurant.

“We may have some drink specials as well,” Lucas said. “This is one of the biggest weekends of the summer and is a big welcome back to everyone.”

Other bars like the Beer Barrel Saloon, Frosty’s and the Round House will also have live entertainment, drink specials and special activities to commemorate the weekend.

In honor of our fallen soldiers Perry’s Victory and International Peace Monument will have a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 on the back lawn of the visitor’s center of the monument.

During the ceremony author of “The Slave’s Gamble,” Gene Allen Smith, will be the keynote speaker. The monument will also be open throughout the weekend for kid’s activities, tours and living history lessons.

There will also be a parade throughout the weekend featuring antique and classic cars.

“It is a really fun weekend with a lot going on for people of all ages,” Lucas said. “So, come to Put-in-Bay and have a blast and celebrate the beginning of the summer with us!”

The annual event starts at 11:00 am on Friday, May 24 and continues until Tuesday, May 28 at 2:00 am. The activities will take place at various businesses and parks throughout the island. For a complete listing of events happening on Put-in-Bay during Memorial Day weekend, visit

Awesome news. I always knew this party would come home.


You couldn't pay for me to travel, party, stay and drink and eat on that greed factory ever again. It used to be a cool and laid back place to pitch a tent or dock a boat for a good weekend of fun. Now it's all glitz and glamor and costs are outrageous!


LuvBlues2...You are right on the mark with that one. Back in the day when the costs were reasonable you could have a great time on PIB and at Lonz/. Those days are gone forever, we have, as you say, the greed generation in charge!!


Same thing happened with Margaritaville, 8ballinthesidepocket. Fun on the lake is no more, unless you have big cash. The biggest problem is that they took the ambiance away.. THAT is the killer...
