In recent years, hipsters and hippies have gravitated to the banjo-picking, mandolin-strumming act’s old-style sound with impunity.
While we may be tired of bearded folk lovers – Brooklyn, yes, we’re looking at you – blathering endlessly about Mumford & Sons, the truth is the group’s latest single “I Will Wait,” from its new album “Babel,” is the real deal.
The up-tempo track is buoyed by a palpable sense of urgency, while lyrically the zeitgeist act appears to be lobbying its diehard fan base to stay committed.
When the spotlight moves on to “the next big thing,” Mumford & Sons won’t chase it, choosing instead to stay true to its folk-minded roots. Or at least that’s what they’re saying now. Whatever the case, “I Will Wait” is a true gem.
