Party this Weekend at Margaritaville

“Wastin' away again in Margaritaville, Searching for my lost shaker of salt, Some people claim that there's a woman to blame...” We all know the famous Jimmy Buffett song and now is your time to live it.

Grab your tropical attire, get into the summer mood and bring your salt craving because this weekend is a party you won’t want to forget at The Original Margaritaville in Sandusky.

“This Saturday is our deck opening party,” said Terrie Petroff, Margaritaville manager. “And on Sunday is Cinco De Mayo... both are huge parties for us.”

Want to go?
WHAT: Deck Opening and Cinco De Mayo Party
WHEN: Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5
WHERE: The Original Margaritaville, 212 Fremont Avenue, Sandusky

“We have a huge outdoor deck that includes a bandstand, kitchen, bar, restroom... it’s a super, super nice deck,” said Petroff.

Some improvements have been made this year. “We have covered the bandstand and provided a covered sit down area in case it rains or people need to sit down because it is too hot,” explained Petroff.

Live musical entertainment will be provided on Saturday and Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Tight Wadd will perform on Saturday and Belligerent Chimps will take the stage on Sunday.

“This weekend is always a huge one for us,” said Petroff. Petroff explained that a few hundred people come through the doors in celebration of another summer season.

The full restaurant will be open throughout the weekend as well.

When asked why people should come out and enjoy the fun this weekend Petroff laughed and handed the phone to someone named Heather who answered, “We have great margaritas, great atmosphere, live music and good people.”

Good enough for us! Come on out and start the summer off right at one of Sandusky’s favorites.

Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving this Cinco de Mayo!
Patrol working to reduce impaired driving crashes, fatalities

COLUMBUS - As party-goers celebrate Cinco de Mayo with sombreros, mariachi music and authentic cuisine, many will also indulge with their favorite margarita or tequila, and then, unfortunately, choose to get behind the wheel. That’s why this year the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be joining with other law enforcement agencies across the state to encourage everyone to plan ahead this Cinco de Mayo and to never drive impaired.

The Patrol is planning high-visibility enforcement and OVI checkpoints across the state in an effort to reduce OVI-related fatal and injury crashes.

“We can’t fight the battle against impaired driving on our own – We need your commitment to make our roads safe,” said Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent. “You can contribute to a safer Ohio by actively influencing friends and family to make safe, responsible decisions - like planning ahead to designate a driver and insisting that everyone in the vehicle is buckled up.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from 2007 to 2011, 38 percent of all motor vehicle fatalities that occurred each year around May 5th involved impaired drivers or motorcycle operators with blood alcohol concentrations of .08 and above.

Margaritaville "used" to have a good atmosphere downstairs until the place caught on fire and was sold. Then they also changed recipes and started charging for condiments that used to be free. The margaritas even tasted different. Won't go there anymore. Used to be the best, now it may as well be a glorified Taco Bell.

There are lots of much better places to go. I agree with glorified taco bell. Wont go ever again

The Chimichanga was the best! It came with refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa and lettuce. Sat at the bar with all the coins under your arms and all the cops patches from everywhere behind the liquor shelves. Jukebox right behind you that was always pumped full of good music. The people next to you used to talk their heads off and you had just met them. The golden margaritas! Yes!

Now? chimichanga Taco H@ll style, nothing else unless you pay extra. Golden margarita tastes like they took it from the waterfall. Jukebox gone, stale atmosphere. It totally went to sh@t w/the new owners.

Oh you know we'll be there! Great place...always was...always will be! Keep going Bob

Just got back home. GREAT Time, Great crowd. Lots of bikes. Cold beer!
