Steak Out at Office Bar

Office Bar is cooking up 12-oz. New York Strip steaks, and you are invited.

Popular Norwalk bar is attempting to enhance its cuisine with the catered steak event Thursday, Sept. 12 that manager Ray Sizemore hopes will attract plenty of folks seeking a tasty meal in a fun atmosphere. 
 
What’s the idea behind the Steak Out?
This is our first time doing something like this. Mostly our food options are what you’d call bar food, appetizers and simple sandwiches. We do have some events where we’ll have catered food just as a complimentary sort of thing like our anniversary and our Halloween parties where we’re known for our complimentary buffets. But when Arvydas Montvilas, the owner of Catering by Design, approached me for a joint venture, I jumped at the opportunity. It seemed like a great concept.
 
What makes it seem like a great concept?
Basically we both do what we do well. We have a location that’s known for people being able to socialize and hangout. His location right now is more sort of a just a base of operations to provide caterings compared to a sit down base. We’re in the hospitality industry in general, and he’s just a really fantastic cook and specializes in bringing out meals with a little bit of flair to them. He’ll bring his grill here and catering equipment and we’re going to do the service and offer the venue.
 
OK, you have our attention. Now, to more important things like, what’s on the menu?
He’s making a 12-oz. USDA choice aged New York Strip steak expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection onsite. He has his own blend of seasonings. That comes with a huge Idaho baked potato with butter and sour cream, a fresh garden salad with your choice of dressings, including Ranch, Italian or Catering By Design’s from-scratch Red Raspberry Poppyseed Vinaigrette. There will also be fresh-baked bread with whipped honey butter.
 
How big of a deal is the Steak Out for The Office Bar?
We already talked about if it does go well we’ll be doing similar events monthly. He has a huge repertoire of recipes and specialty recipes. We talked about a pasta thing in the future, and also different types of steaks and that sort of thing. It is a trial run. We’re hoping it goes well. We’re optimistic.
