Nate's Annual Benefit Breakfast with Santa

Eat some scrambled eggs with Santa this Sunday and support a benefit that has been around since 1979.

“This event originally started in 1979 and has been carried over to our restaurant,” said Kevin Lowe, general manager of 1812 Food and Spirits. “Guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items, unwrapped toys and new cloths to donate to those in need.”

All the donated items will be given to Ottawa County Job and Family Services and the Salvation Army to help those in need during the holiday season.

Admission to the event is $9 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years old, all the proceeds from the event are also donated to Ottawa County Job and Family Services and the Salvation Army.

“Last year we raised roughly $5,000 in cash alone and had approximately 180 people attend,” Lowe said. “This year we hope to have even more people attend and raise even more money.”

The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, French toast, sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns, pastries, fresh fruit, juice, milk and coffee.

“This is a wonderful tradition that we are excited to be able to carry on,” Lowe said. “In this economy everyone needs a little help, so this is our way of giving back to the community.”
