A live Elvis Preley Revival
0 commentsRelive the greatest hits of Elvis Presley at Lakeside with the powerful vocal sounds of famed Elvis impersonator Mike Albert.
Lakeside will be dancing to the “Jailhouse Rock” in celebration of the return of the “King” to Hoover Auditorium on Saturday, May 24, 2008 when Mike Albert takes the stage with his “Ultimate Tribute” at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Albert, a native of the Columbus region, who started his portrayal of the “King” by using sing-a-long tapes of Elvis’ hits, is now a worldwide crowd-pleaser bringing together Elvis fans at concerts throughout the United States, Australia and New Zealand. He is accompanied by the seven-piece Big ‘E’ Band, a musical ensemble evocative of Elvis’ band in Las Vegas and other shows. Albert and the “Big ‘E’ Band” have had the honor of touring with the Jordanaires and J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, the original vocal groups that backed Elvis Presley.
A regular performer at fairs, festivals, dinner shows and large car cruises, the highlight of Albert’s career was an invitation to do the Miss Tennessee beauty pageant. The show featured a full orchestra and choreographed dance routines, which resulted in another request to perform for the same event three years later. Albert is also the recipient of a number of “Elvis” contest awards, was a guest on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and the star of six music videos on “A Current Affair” with Maury Povich.
Albert’s shows are fresh with an ever-changing song line-up of hits from every genre of Elvis music, including ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s rock n’ roll and love songs, as well as gospel and holiday. His style and charisma makes a lasting connection with audiences and accounts for sold-out crowds at every venue.
