Lakeside Symphony Orchestra with violinist James Braid
0 commentsThe Lakeside Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 45th season. Robert Cronquist will be returning to Lakeside for his 38th year as conductor of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra - presenting another wonderful season of great music and outstanding soloists. Cronquist also conducts the historic Cleveland Women’s Orchestra – www.clevelandwomensorchestra.org.
Concertmaster, James Braid, will be the featured soloist on Wednesday, August 13, in a performance of the “Violin Concerto D-Minor” by J. S. Bach. This concerto, while originally written for the piano (BWV 1052), has been beautifully arranged for a violin solo. Opening the concert will be Rossini’s most well known Overture to “William Tell”. Also featured will be Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 2” – knicknamed the “Little Russian” because of its nationalistic melodies. It’s interesting to note that this symphony was written in 1873 – the same year thatLakeside opened.
