Kuumba (koo-OOM-bah) means creativity. Kuumba is the sixth of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, which is a unique African American celebration with focus on the traditional African values of family, community responsibility, commerce, and self-improvement. Kwanzaa is neither political nor religious, and is not a substitute for Christmas. It is celebrated from December 26th to January 1st . Performances in theater arts, contemporary dance or ballet is usually the entertainment for the Kuumba festival.
