The festival is on center street and in the surrounding buildings and parks. The gathering is family oriented with lots of activities for children and adults with no admission fee. Unique to the festival is the two companies in the village that produce one of a kind, hardwood, signed baskets, featuring special editions for each festival. They are the Village Baskets on Main Street and The Berlin Fruit Box Company on Mechanic Street. This year the festival is highlighting the 150th anniversary of the launch by Samuel Patterson of the Berlin Fruit Box Co. There will by a second parade on Sunday, the "First Annual Big Old Parade" and a "Basket Avenue" featuring basket manufacturers, basket guilds, and basket making demonstrations. Other events featured at the Berlin Heights Basket Festival include a flower show crafts, a parade featuring the Queen and Court and the Edison Chargers Band, a quilt display, live on stage music, a kiddie tractor pull, a baby contest, a marble tournament, and lots of other family oriented activities. The whole village is filled with the tantalizing aromas from the many food vendors and local organizations' different fetes including a steak fry, pancake breakfast, a chicken barbecue and hog roast.
