Recap: Gazebo Concert with Pantasia Steel Drum Band

The Pantasia Steel Drum Band, who are in their 14th season, gave a free concert last night at the Washington Park Gazebo in downtown Sandusky. The plush green lawn soon became engulfed in lawn chairs and blankets as folks leisurely waited to listen to the Jamaican inspired sounds.

Traditional musicians in a modern world

As if you couldn't tell from the name, Rodney and the Regulars have a penchant for something along the lines of tradition. Though “regular” is usually taken to mean normal or boring, the tunes that Rodney and his band perform are anything but. They draw their sound from a long line of venerable country musicians and a variety of roots music, but that's not to say that they haven't tried to make it their own.

Recap with Video: Black Stone Cherry

The opening night of Ohio Bike Week's three-day Block Party started with an explosive performance by the southern rock band Black Stone Cherry. This band takes their larger-than-life mystique of classic rock and modernizes it with a driving attack that is equal parts metal and modern hard rock. Their sound has been often compared to that of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Zepplin and The Black Crowes all rolled into one hard-hitting metal machine.

Recap: Pink Floyd Tribute Band at OBW

There were plenty of hula hoops and dilated pupils present at the Erie County Fairgrounds for Wish You Were Here, a Cleveland-based Pink Floyd tribute band. The night started off pretty slow, as the threat of rain quickly turned into a full-blown storm. But no worries — people happily took shelter in the Easyriders Saloon, which was filled with plenty of bodies and, of course, booze.
