This week in movies: Maybe time to watch some DVDs

If you put together the casts from the two movies opening this weekend, you'd have an interesting mix of people who used to be huge stars but are now doing movies like the ones opening this weekend. The two movies are "Grown Ups,' and "Knight and Day.' I'll put 10 bucks on neither of them taking the top spot at the box office this weekend.

Recap with video: Summer starts to sizzle at the Reserve

When we got to Kalahari around 4:30, the parking lot was packed but the restaurant wasn't yet (it was still a bit early for dinner). Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful and we got set up right on the stage at the Reserve, which, if you hadn't heard, took the place of Kahunaville.

Jump back to the '80s at the State Theatre

The Sandusky State Theatre will be taking a stroll - or maybe a break dance - down memory lane with "The Awesome ‘80s Prom.' The dinner show is $36 per person and opens Saturday, June 26 at 7 p.m. Other performances are Sunday, June 27 at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 10 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 11 at 2 p.m.

How to drive a stick shift

I have no idea why this popped into my head when I was thinking about what to do for a "how to," but it did. Probably because, frankly, I have no idea how to drive a stick shift. While I don't think I can just go jump in a manual transmission car and go just yet, this video at least gave me a place to start.

Movie flashback: Vintage Disney gone creepy?

All of this talk and well-deserved hype over Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 3 - which I saw this weekend - has led me to start thinking about the flicks I loved so much as a kid. We're talking old school Disney here, way back in 1940.

This Tuesday's new releases get down and dirty with the Roots' new album, "How I Got Over," and a new Wii game that will make you laugh so hard it might make it hard to play called "Wipeout." We also have a new DVD release for all our tree hugging friends and a healthy vegan cookbook.

This is a hilarious parody music video from 1989 that spoofs on the materialistic, vain, "have-it-all," showboating lifestyle. I absolutely love parody videos; it takes me back to the good 'ol days of Al Yankovic, or even when Eminem used to make funny music videos.
