“Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains),” track number 15 on Arcade Fire’s album “The Suburbs,” is our choice for this Friday’s Jam of the Week.
While Arcade Fire’s album “The Suburbs” has been out for just over two years now, we’re still in love with it, and for good reason too. The album won multiple awards after it’s release, including Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards.
More recently, however, I learned some new information about the album, more specifically about the song “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains).”
The song, in addition to being awesome, is based on a New York Times Bestselling book by author Tracy Kidder titled “Mountains Beyond Mountains.” Plus, Arcade Fire has this cool interactive music video for the song that you can check out at www.sprawl2.com.
The song has a sort of 80’s pop feel to it that meshes well with Arcade Fire’s sound, and that the music video happily mimics, with a kind of weird twist. Check it out here:
Every Friday, we post a Jam of the Week — a relatively new song that has caught our ear. Like it? Hate it? Let us know. Or better yet, tell us what YOUR Jam of the Week is.
