Now that fall is officially upon us, it's time to get down to everybody's favorite part of the season: Football! There really is nothing better than catching gridiron action from the stands at your team's stadium, or posting up in your own man cave to watch the action on your own giant screen.

There are, almost always, those unfortunate times when you have to make a buffalo wing run in the middle of the game. If you don't want to miss any of the action while you're on the go, there's an app for that. There are plenty of mobile apps out there to make sure you never miss any NFL action, and we picked two for this Monday's App of the Week.

One really good NFL app is brought to you by the folks at Pro Football Weekly, a publication which started in print, moved to the web, and now has a really good mobile app. On the Pro Football Weekly app, you get a complete line-up of NFL news, from scores and stats to standings and injury updates. This app also has a tweet stream of the Twitter feeds from a ton of NFL'ers, so you can see what your favorite players are up to. The app also has a nice video section, where Pro Football Weekly's own analysts break down every aspect of the week's games. Plus, this app is totally free.

But for apps about the NFL, the standard is set by the National Football League itself. Once again this year, the NFL has its own mobile app, and once again this year, their app is the best out there for NFL news and analysis. You can get the same stats and scores as in the Pro Football Weekly app, but you also get a lot more with NFL Mobile.

The video in the NFL Mobile app comes directly from the NFL Network, so the video looks a lot better, and it has the same commentators that you see on the NFL Network on TV. The video recaps and stat recaps of single-games look a lot better in this app, too. Plus you can track your favorite team, as well as your fantasy team, if you play fantasy football. But our favorite part of this app is the live NFL RedZone video streaming during the games on Sundays.

If you're unfamiliar with RedZone, this is the show on NFL Network that airs throughout the games on Sundays, and shows you all the action from all of the games at the same time. It's just as awesome as it sounds. The only catch is, last year you could watch this for free on the NFL Mobile app, and this year the subscription is $5. But if you're a diehard NFL fan who's on-the-go or without cable, it's totally worth it.

So there are plenty of options during the NFL season to keep up with all of the gridiron action.

Pro Football Weekly is a solid choice, and you can get it on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone HERE.

The NFL Mobile app is available to Verizon customers only and can be downloaded for iOs and Android HERE.
