In the eight years that have passed since Green Day graced us with its second-chapter defining “American Idiot,” the Bay Area trio has continually eschewed its punkish ways for more of a straight-ahead rock sound.
This trend continues with the band’s latest single “Oh Love,” which can be found on the group’s new album “Uno!” (due out later this month).

The hearth-shaped, mid-tempo jam finds singer Billie Joe Armstrong and company playing it safe, a kiss of death for most acts. But the tune’s earnest approach and insidiously catchy songwriting can’t be denied. Just like Armstrong’s trademark sneer (thank you, Elvis), Green Day may be stealing from the past but does so with impunity.
The album, due to be released on the 25th of this month, can be preordered on iTunes HERE or download the single Amazon HERE.
