Treat your sweetheart to something special this Valentine’s Day weekend.

The Culinary Vegetable Institute is hosting its February Earth to Table Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.

If you want to treat your Valentine to a meal they won’t soon forget, this is the one. The meal will feature the cuisine of Chef Lanny Chin.

Chin, who hails from Cleveland, has had an interest in cooking since high school and has since held multiple restaurant and kitchen jobs in Northeast Ohio. Now, Chin works at Bon Appetit Management Company’s Market Café and Wine Bar, where he regularly creates savory, delectable dishes made with locally grown ingredients.

Chin will be creating several dishes for the Earth to Table Dinner this Saturday, so you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. A few choices include Ice Spinach Bouquet and Roasted Beet Salad, Plum Wine Braised Duck, Mixed Brabant Potatoes, Strawberry Rhubarb Shortcake and more.

If you participate in the silent auction, you can feel good knowing your money is going towards a great cause.

"The dinner benefits the not-for-profit Veggie U and is also paired with a one of a kind silent auction benefiting Veggie U," Event Sales, Marketing and Coordination Manager Katelyn Zemba said.

Veggie U strives to increase healthy food awareness for fourth grade and special needs students.

Products being auctioned off include items from sponsors MacKenzie Creamery in Hiram, Ohio, Pomona Chocolates in Sandusky, Colonial Gardens in Huron, Sawmill Creek in Huron, Flowerama in Perkins Township and many more.

"The silent auction includes destination vacation packages to Napa Valley, tickets to Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians games, Steelite Barware, an overnight stay at The Culinary Vegetable Institute in the Chef's Suite and many more options," Zemba said.

Not only do you get a delicious, gourmet meal and the chance to purchase great items, but there's even more.

"Each guest receives a gift from the CVI and some of our sponsors," Zemba said.

The cost of the meal is $75 per person, plus tax and 20% gratuity. You must purchase tickets and reserve your spot before 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. To do so, call the Culinary Vegetable Institute at 419-499-7500. Payment is due at the time of reservation.
