1.)   Vermilion Third Thursdays Why you should go: This event, for being as awesome as it is, has gotten far too little mention in the past. Vermilion has become known for this Third Thursday event, where concerts take place throughout the town from 6:30 p.m. until sunset. There is always a wide variety of free musical entertainment for you. Did we mention it’s free? WHEN: 6:30 p.m. until sunset, Thursday, June 21 WHERE: Downtown Vermilion COST: Free INFO: 440-967-9504   2.)   4th Annual Pyrate Fest Why you should go: Arrghh, matey! What’s not to love about this area tradition? Pirates invade Put-in-Bay throughout the weekend, and there’s plenty to do and see. On Saturday, there will be a Pirate Parade and Costume Contest for kids and adults, as well as a Pyrate Marketplace, featuring assorted vendors. A kids fun fest and black powder firing demonstrations will also take place. On Monday, enjoy the infamous Cardboard Boat Races at 6 p.m. in the downtown harbor. Reenactors will demonstrate swordfighting techniques and the art of skullduggery. Fireworks will be held on Saturday at dark. There will be live performances by Dry Ice, Motown Eperience, Drunken Angel, Tag R, Country Express and Free Beer Band. Admission is free, and food and drinks will be available to attendees for a small cost. Proceeds will benefit Cancer Services on Perkins Ave. in Sandusky.
