Just add water!

Nick’s Roadhouse is hosting a Wet T-Shirt contest Friday. When bar owner Nick was asked why this event might appeal to his customers, he had a simple answer.
“I think that’s pretty obvious,” he said, laughing.
Good point. Stupid question.
As every boy learns at some point during his formative years, girls in white T-shirts are just like Kool-Aid mix — add a little water, and you’ve got something special.
Nick’s Roadhouse has hosted this annual event for many years, and Nick said it’s always a good time.
“People sign up the night of the event. It’s open to the public — obviously it’s an amateur contest,” he said. “A lot of people come out, and we usually get the show started around midnight. It’s a fun event.”
Nick said the contest is limited to 12 participants, and they’re the ones who decide who to distribute the more than $500 in prize money.
“We generally pay out the top three, but they’ll get to talk about that and decide what they want to do,” he said. “And the patrons actually get to do the voting and decide the winner.”
Area radio station Mix 102.7 is one of the sponsors.
Some pictures of past Wet T-Shirt Contests at the bar are available on its Web site, nicksroadhouse.com. Of course, when I tried to look at a few of them using my office computer, I had no luck. I think my boss is on to my tricks and has limited my access to certain sites.
With the greater Sandusky area being known for its summer attractions more than its winter ones, some of the local bars try a few different programs during the colder months to make sure people still are coming through the doors. This is one of those events, but Nick said his bar usually spaces out its special programs fairly evenly throughout the year.
Coming up Feb. 9 at the bar is a concert by popular rock band The Menus, and The Breakfast Club — an ’80s cover band from Cleveland — is coming March 7.
Shortly after that, Nick’s Roadhouse is hosting its annual Put-in-Palooza show, featuring musical acts Ray Fogg, The Swingin Lesbian Frogs, Killer Flamingos, Bob Gatewood & Calabash and many more.
In addition to those special events, Nick said his bar offers specials every week to keep patrons happy.
“We always do a happy hour until 7 (p.m.),” he said. “Then Mondays we offer a half-pound burger and fries for $2.99, Tuesday is all-you-can-eat wings for $6.95, and Wednesday is free pool. And Friday and Saturday are the two biggest nights, and we have the dance floor open.”
So, even if you don’t like girls in wet shirts, you still might be able to find a reason to head out to Nick’s. But let’s be serious here — who doesn’t like girls in wet shirts?
The answer to that final question is Justin Powell’s parents. They will not be happy if they stumble across this article.
