Following a successful soft opening, downtown Sandusky’s newest restaurant officially opens on Wednesday, July 4.
Dockside Café is the latest venture of Cesare and Andrea Avallone, who also own ZINC Brasserie and CRUSH winebar. The menu will be simple, delicious and affordable – staple dishes include fresh fish tacos and locally raised beef burgers, most of which are under $10. The atmosphere is casual, with outdoor-only seating.
We’ve heard good things about the “World Famous Walleye Tacos,” where tempura walleye is folded into a flour tortilla, served with pico de gallo, shredded lettuce and lime aioli. There are also chicken and shrimp options available.
The Dockside Deluxe burger features two patties topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun, served with a pickle and their hand-cut fries, made from premium russet Idaho potatoes. Other burger options for smaller appetites include a single and a double.
There is a nice selection of salads as well, with a flavor to suit any taste. The Southwest Salad contains mixed baby lettuces with black bean and corn salsa, bacon, egg, avocado and buttermilk ranch dressing. The Nuts & Berries Salad includes mixed baby lettuces, dried cranberries, dried strawberries, toasted almonds and goat cheese topped with balsamic vinaigrette.
