What is your favorite part of the Huron County Fair? Is it the fattening food, the rides, the vendors, the shows or how about the concerts? Who would have ever thought the “coolest” place to hang out at the Huron County Fair would be the cow barns?
With the temperature in the upper 80’s, fair-goers were crowding the barns looking for some shade. The animal barns and expo buildings were filled with kids asking their hot and sticky parents “ok, can we go ride some rides now?” It was a funny sight to see, as I to was one of the people trying to hide out in those buildings!
Luckily the rain came to cool people down a bit — and make the dirt track nice and muddy for the motocross races in the grandstand. The race officials brought in the heavy equipment to move the dirt around because the track was so wet.
Who would ever thought kids covered in mud from head to toe would look so cute on dirt bikes and quads? Those little ones might look cute but boy, they have no fear! They were jumping those hills and making it around that course as fast as they could. The upper divisions really got the crowd going with their aggressive and impressive racing skills.
Whether you're there a couple hours or all day, the Huron County Fair is old fashioned fun. Fairs are known to bring back great memories and defiantly make great new ones. Friday night you can test your square dancing skills in the Heritage Center, or if that’s not your style, the rough truck competition is going on in the grandstand. The demolition derby is going on Saturday and always draws a great crowd, so grab your friends and go enjoy the final weekend at the Huron County Fair!
