Beth's Best Bets, June 7-13
0 commentsIt's a busy week in Funcoast land.
With festivals, concerts, exhibits, random shows and more, there's just way too much to do! Luckily, we're here to sort out the good stuff from the, well, not-so-good stuff. No need to thank us. That's what we do.
Due to the sheer amount of fun going on, I had to extend my Best Bets for this week because I just couldn't leave out any one of these events. And before you get all cranky and call me to complain that I didn't include a lot of local events as Best Bets, chill out. When Sandusky starts sponsoring a Banana Split anything, I'll be the first one to advertise it.
Whether you decide scarf down banana splits or Bloody Marys, remember to go out there and have fun!
BREAKFAST & BLOODY MARY BAR (part of Ohio Bike Week), Thursday, June 8 through Saturday, June 10, Shifter's Bar & Grill, 5316 Milan Road, Sandusky
ï This Best Bet is dedicated to my friends Jill and Mike, who are serious Bloody Mary fans (you may have seem Sgt. Mac's Bloody Mary Recipe in one of the first issues of Funcoast).
KAYAK RENDEZVOUS, Friday, June 9 through Sunday, June 11, South Bass Island State Park
ï From what the promoters say, this is the best place to paddle within 100 miles. I'll take their word for it.
BEDFORD STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL, Friday, June 9 through Sunday, June 11, Bedford Ohio Town Square, Route 14, Bedford
ï Strawberry shortcake. Need I say anything else?
BANANA SPLIT FESTIVAL, Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, Wilmington
ï Hey, there's fruit in this treat, so it's good for you, right?
PORK RIND HERITAGE FESTIVAL, Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, Harrod
ï I had to look up Harrod on the map (FYI: It's in Allen County). Personally, I find pork rinds repulsive, but come on, how cool is it to have festival dedicated to a salty, disgusting snack? Plus, the aforementioned team of Jill and Mike love pork rinds, so I had to include this as a Best Bet for them.
PARADE THE CIRCLE, Saturday, June 10, University Circle, Cleveland
ï It's hard to find free entertainment for the whole family, but this community arts event delivers.
SANDUSKY BONSAI SHOW, Sunday, June 11, Sandusky Cultural Center, 2130 Hayes Ave., Sandusky
ï Maybe they'll teach you how to "catch fly with chopsticks" (if you don't get that reference, you need to bone up on your '80s movies).
