Tickets on sale for upcoming Sandusky State Theatre performances
0 commentsAnother musical is coming April 2 — “Ring of Fire: The music of Johnny Cash.”
Created by Tony award-winner Richard Maltby Jr., the show features more than 30 songs by the legendary musician. “Ring of Fire” is billed as being about “love, faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, home and family.”
It will “take you on a journey into the world Johnny Cash created in his songs,” according to promotional material.
The night of each of those shows, the theater is offering themed dinners for an extra $25 a person. The menus are nearing completion, but Kazmierczak said regardless of what’s being served, he expects those to events over well.
“The pre-show dinners are going to be served out of our community arts center, tentatively called The State Room,” he said. “They’ll be themed based on the show, and they’ll include wine and some good food. It’s a nice pre-show option.”
Later in the summer, the State Theatre will put on “High School Musical,” featuring kids ages 11-17. The performers will go through an extensive two and a half week seminar to learn singing and dancing skills, all the while rehearsing and preparing for the “Musical” performances on a weekend in August.
Kazmierczak said any kids who meet the age requirements can sign up for the program now by contacting the State Theatre.
In addition to those shows, the Firelands Symphony Orchestra will be performing a few concerts at the venue, starting with “Spring Awakenings” on March 8 and continuing with “Enchanted April” on April 12.
Also in April, the Canadian Mist Bob & Tom Comedy All-Star show is coming to the theater.
“That’s just like the famous blue-collar comedy tour, and it features a lot of different comedians,” Kazmierczak said.
The night after that show, the Sandusky Concert Association is presenting “Forever Tango.”
“That’s one of Broadway’s best shows,” Kazmierczak said. “That’s a gift to come and see. It’s very down to earth — a very approachable show, and people are going to love it.”
And keep your ears peeled to hear about future events coming to the venue. Kazmierczak is going to be working hard to bring them here.
Justin Powell thinks he deserves extra money for this article because he had to spell Kazmierczak so many times. E-mail him at hello@funcoast.com.
