You wanna rock?

You want action tonight? Don't need nothin' but a good time? Gotta get away from that same old same old? How about an appointment with Dr. Feelgood?

You, my friend, are in luck.

It's time to get out your bandana, leather pants and lipstick and get your best Bret Michaels or Nikki Sixx on.

Gather a bunch of friends, lacquer your big 80s hair, then get your hard-rockin' self to the Hi-Fi Concert Club in Lakewood for Heavy Metal Karaoke night.

Are you kidding? This is gonna be a blast!

My apologies to all the American Idol winners, but radio just hasn't been the same since Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister ruled the airwaves.

Am I dating myself? That's all right. I have bigger things to worry about - like whether I'd do a better job with "I Won't Forget You" which is kind of a tear-jerker... (Yeah, I think I'll pass on that one, I don't want my eyeliner to run) or do "Talk Dirty to Me" instead: "C.C. pick up that guitar and talk to me!" Wow - I still remember every word to that song.

You know, I should probably let them fade away but that just wouldn't be me...

All right, sorry. I'll get a hold of my 80s self now.

As for you, get yourself to the Hi-Fi Club - the heavy metal starts at 8 p.m. at 11729 Detroit Ave. And - unlike the days you played "Paradise City" over and over and over, no one will yell at you to "turn that d**n thing down!"

Now speaking of blasts from the pasts and repeat performances, have you heard this rumor about mullets making a comeback?

Eeesh.

Listen: Some things are classic, like "Welcome to the Jungle."

Some things should be put out of their misery. Like mullets. That's all I have to say about that.

OK, moving on, once you've recovered from tonight, you might be looking for something a tad tamer. I have two suggestions here: On Friday - Piccolo's is hosting a French wine tasting from 5-8 p.m. (ooh la la) and/or you could check out the weekly "Musicians Night Out" at Joe Sundae, which starts at 6 p.m.

Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join in, so this is where you wanna be if you're an aspiring Dee Snider.

Err, I mean Dan May or Danielle Peck.

Or if you just want to hang out and enjoy the music.
Yeah, keeping it low-key and recharging your batteries might be a good idea for Friday, as Saturday we start to get seriously "Pump"ed for summer.

That's right, it's time for the Kelleys Island Village Pump Early Bird Party!

The summer kick-off starts at noon with DJ Dean, food, games and prizes (plus Funcoast.com shooting video and Spotted photos!) and seriously - what else were you gonna do? It doesn't appear to be a getting-the-garden-primed day so I suggest you prime yourself for a summer of fun.
Get on the ferry and arrange a taxi or designated driver for when you get back to the mainland.

You want to have the maximum amount of fun possible but not be like that Feist song - "my Brandy Alexander always gets me into trouble..."

Ha - and you thought my musical repertoire ended with Headbanger's Ball selections.

Say, does anyone remember Slade?

Just so everyone knows... we

Just so everyone knows... we do the karaoke thing every week ... this isn't any sort of special event or anything. We don't know why they're making a big deal out of it here. Must be that there's nothing to do in Sandusky.

HI! Just got this event

HI! Just got this event added to our calendar and we're always looking for something new and fun to send our readers out to do - in Sandusky and the surrounding area. We have just a few Wednesday events going on right now (as we wait for summer.) Maybe some of our readers will make you their new Wednesday night hot spot!
Cheers,
Laura
