Find your pot o' gold
0 commentsSimilar to the feeling enjoyed when your birthday falls on a weekend day, St. Patrick's Day on a Saturday raises the green beer Celtic celebration factor exponentially to the point where you could be considered anti-fun if you don't at least acknowledge the holiday.
That said, the calendar Gods have spoken this year with St. Patrick's Day taking place on a Saturday; however, if you're itching to wear some green and get the festivities started off early, there's one local venue that has planned quite a weekend.
"It's the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebration in the history of Sandusky," said Daly's Irish Pub and Eatery Acting Manager Kent Roberts. "We're doing Sandusky's first St. Patty's weekend."
He added, "This year we're just upping the ante. We're adding a twist. Daly's should be full of people but we're doing some customer appreciation by giving away some trips this year with drink specials and food specials. We just appreciate everyone from Sandusky coming down."
Already known around town for its nightlife -- dancing, music, etc. -- Daly's Irish Pub and Eatery, located at 104 Columbus Ave. in Sandusky, kicks off St. Patrick's Day Weekend on Friday night with a DJ spinning the Irish tunes, plenty of green beer and the usual fare of reuben sandwiches and corned beef with cabbage.
In addition, there will be a best outfit contest with the top two winners each receiving a free three-day vacation (Las Vegas and Cancun, Mexico) for one.
"On Saturday, we're going to kick it off at 9 in the morning with kegs and eggs, with drink specials and $2 full breakfasts until noon," Roberts said. "And then we'll be having the Irish dinner specials after noon. We're going to have a live DJ but where the fun will be at, we'll be giving away four more trips for the best St. Patty's Day outfits to Jamaica, Las Vegas and Cancun."
He added, "We do it because we love our customers."
Talk about March madness, for over 15 years Daly's Irish Pub and Eatery has been the epicenter of Sandusky's St. Patrick's Day fun.
Roberts said, "It's a once-a-year experience, and anybody who comes down here on St. Patty's day always has a great time."
