Poor boys then, Poorboys now ...

What do Eric Pasley, Michael Moore, Daniel Griffin and Jack Newman all have in common? They are all poor boys -- not in the financial sense but in the world of entertainment. They are members of a local band called the Poorboys Band.

The Poorboys Band surfaced in the 1970s, played successfully for a few years and fell apart as members drifted in different directions. Seven years ago, Jack Newman, the only original member of the Poorboys Band recruited Eric, Mike and Dan and the Poorboys were back on stage.

The band decided to keep the name "Poorboys" because of its sentimental intonation and to remind them of the humble beginning of the band. In the beginning, the band was scheduled to play at the M & M Tavern in Vickery, but upon their arrival, the taverns owner's wife Millie, (now deceased) looked at the miss-matched group who didn't have decent equipment or uniform clothing and declared "you look like a bunch of poor boys." Thus, the name "Poorboys" originated and cemented.

The Poorboys of 2006 consist of drummer, Eric Pasley, rhythm guitarist Michael Moore, lead guitarist Daniel Griffin, and bass guitarist Jack Newman. The love of music and the family atmosphere of the Poorboys keep this talented group of men hammering and belting out famous tunes weekend after weekend after working their day jobs.

The Poorboys play all types of music, including southern rock and 50's and 60's tunes and will play for any occasion, including weddings, birthday parties, graduations, company parties and religious ceremonies.
