The Blind Side, Dragons and The Weakerthans

This week we have an Oscar winner, a game based on an upcoming movie and a live album by The Weakerthans.

DVD: The Blindside

Sandra Bullock won Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her part in The Blindside. A true story about Michael Oher, a homeless boy who made it to the NFL thanks to the support of the Touhys family.  Michael was an All-American left tackle who overcame adversity and poverty with the help of a wealthy and considerate family. The Blind Side tells the story of the Touhys family taking in Michael and the roadblocks Michael overcame to make it to the NFL.

Game: How To Train Your Dragon

An Xbox game based on the upcoming DreamWorks release “How To Train Your Dragon.” This game is a third-person game that places you as a Viking set out to “Train dragons, explore environments and battle in prestigious dragons tournaments as they battle for Viking victory” (teamxbox.com). This game also features head to head multi-player combat.

CD: The Weakerthans “Live at the Burton Cummings Theatre”

This live album, which fans like myself have been patiently waiting for a new album since 2003, is the new release by The Weakerthans. This album should tie fans over for the time being, until their new album is released this fall. This album features live songs from their famed album “Reconstruction Site,” which made The Weakerthans the Epitaph label name they are.
