Erie County Fair video recap

After kicking off on Tuesday, the Erie County Fair kept rocking and rolling all weekend long. With its unique brand of entertainment and love of pageantry (and also farm animals), the fair got off to a rip-roaring start. Check out our video of the first few days of fun.

Recap: Bartender Olympics on Put-in-Bay

The 27th annual Bartender Olympics, hosted by the Roundhouse Bar, was the premiere event on Put-in-Bay on Tuesday night. If you have never been, like myself, it is a yearly event where each bar on Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island put together a team consisting of their bartenders, waitresses and bar backs to compete in a series of events to prove their bartending skills, endurance, balance and speech.

Be their guest at the Sandusky State Theatre

A teapot is shepherding her teacup son around the looming castle, a clock is tottling about spouting British-isms, and a suave candlestick is singing the joys of serving food.  It may seem like a dream, but in reality, it’s the Sandusky State Theatre’s teen production of “Beauty and the Beast Jr.”

Face in the Crowd: Scott Baker (with video)

If you were to ask most people in the Sandusky area to name their favorite local visual artist, most would probably answer with a blank stare. Even if you are not familiar with his name, chances are good that you have seen the work of Scott Baker, an area painter with a knack for creating attention-grabbing works.

How Dan Fester feels about LeBron

Local musician Dan Fester is pretty ticked about the whole LeBron situation, so he made a video to express his feelings. As a warning, there's some adult language, but if you're feeling down about the Cavs and the man who named himself the king, you'll want to check this video out (if only so you'll know you're not alone).

Movie Flashback: As if

Like totally, whatever… I’m outty! “Clueless” was the definitive anthem of my adolescence and I still listen to the movie’s soundtrack till this day. “Clueless” personified everything I wanted to be at the tender age of 12, which was fashionable, rich, popular, pretty and always going out with my friends and cute boys. After I saw this movie, I had fuzzy feather pens in every color possible!

Retro commercial: Remember Lite Brite?

The Lite Brite was from a time of simpler toys when you had to use your mind and be a little creative. Oh the Lite Brite, I can’t even try to count up the hours I spent in front of mine but it was a ton.

New Release Tuesday: Hot nerds, tattoos & a goddess

This week features a lot of female empowerment with the DVD release of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Kylie Minogue’s new “Aphrodite” album and a hilarious book by model/actress Olivia Munn.

Theater at its best: three free shows in Oberlin

As the hot Lake Erie summer crawls from June into hazy July, theater around the area swings into action, including the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival. While almost anything even remotely theater-related can be expensive to attend, the festival separates itself from the pack by offering its tickets at an extremely low price: free.

Recap: Sandusky Bay Barge Party

Wild and crazy doesn’t even begin to describe it, and quite truthfully, our pictures can’t even do this event the justice it deserves.
